Question before buying 96 7.3l

I've been looking around for a newer truck. The 88 just gets too much attention to the cops. I seen in the paper...
1996 FORD F250 POWERSTROKE Diesel, automatic, Supercab, long box, 4x4, hideaway gooseneck ball, red and black, nice body, paint, interior, runs and drives good, well maintained, close to 200,000 miles, $6,800.

Obviously my first question would be if the tranny was replaced assuming its an e4od.

My question to you guys is how about the mileage. What could I expect from a 7.3 with 200,000 miles? I dont have much time anymore to be wrenching so I wouldnt want a truck that will give me major mechanical problems. Chassis I could live with.

any input appreciated

by 96 the E4OD was rock solid so it probably didn't need replaced and 200k miles is fine on a diesel. 6800 prolly seems high but the 7.3L powerstrokes aer hard to come by cheaply. I'd say go for it and you'll prolly get 13-14 mpg with it city

The E4Od is the weakest link in these trucks(EVEN IN STOCK APPLICATIONS), If you plan on adding a chip down the road you will deffinatly want to have the trans built. As far as having 200k on it it is not that bad, as long as it was taken care of. At that milage injectors, water pump,ICM,HPOP,Trans, shocks, BJ's all could be common problems. here is a truck for comparison, it is very clean https://www.ford-trucks.com/classifi...ate/1167850815
