Im having trouble with mine. Just got a new one an the freezer works great but the refrigerator part doesnt work at all. I plugged it in before I brought it in the house to make sure. It continuosly runs but doesnt cool at all. I am going to take it back since its not in the house make them give me a new one. I cant wait to have someone service it. Ive checked just about everything made sire the controls were set properly an so forth. Anybody have any ideas. We had an old refrigerator that lasted over 50 years an here i get one doesnt work at all. I am pretty disgusted. Any ideas guys before I go back to the dealer.
Take it back. Get a new one. They will either just junk it (after getting money from the manuf) or send back for a factory repair. Why hassel trying to get it fixed. ANd even if they fix it, what happens in a month or so if it breaks again.
Just curious. . . . You say that the fridge is new.
By chance, was this fridge laying on it's side, at all???
When we bought a new fridge, the box stated 'specifically' to not lay it on it's side.
(Something about the freon/refrigerant charge and being displaced.)
Yeh by the way it was for about an half hour when I hauled it home. It just about tipped over in my truck even with it strapped so I laid it on its side. So I suppose its not working because off that. So whats the next step can it be fixed.
For any amount of time that a fridge is on it's side, you should stand it upright for 24 - 48 hours, unplugged.
Mind you, I don't know how true that is, because I transported my beer fridge on it's side. I plugged it in right away and it worked. I probably just got lucky with it.

I'd turn the fridge off and unplug it for a while.
(At least 12 hours. Maybe even 24.)
If the refrigerant charge was 'displaced' (I really don't understand refrigeration!!), the compressor 'could be' pumping 'nothing'.

???????????
you can lay a fridge on its side for two years if you wanted to and it wouldnt hurt it. the only time that matters is if its plugged in running while its on its side. runs the pump dry. same as a boat motor.
The refrigerant is in a gaseous state inside the refrigerator (at least when the unit is not running). You can't displace it, and it doesn't care what orientation the fridge is in. Now the thing is, the compressors have oil in them, and if tipped on their side, or flipped upside down, the oil can run out of the compressor and into system, and potentially starve it of oil. That is probably why they say to wait, to let the oil drain back into the compressor. Once its running however, the moving refrigerant in the system will eventually force the remaining oil back into the compressor.
Try unplugging the fridge for a few hours, the evaporator may have frozen over. Afterwards, check to see if the vents in the fridge portion are blowing out cold air, if they are not, time to get a refund.
If the freezer works, but the refrigerator portion doesn't, that means the compressor is working correctly.
In most (all?) refrigerators, the freezer portion is the main cooling section. A small door opens up between the freezer and refrigerator, and a fan blows cold air into the refrigerator. A thermostat will open and close the door and turn on/turn off the fan based on what the refrigerator control calls for.
Sounds like the door/fan/thermostat is not operating correctly. Take it back
The fan that blows down to the refrigerator from the freezer isnt working. Listened to a neighbors an his is working. So probably have service guy look at it on Monday when he is suposed to come. Thanks for the help guys.
