so i swung by the ford dealer today to check out some parts, when i leave for the first time ever my truck started like ****, it started the first time super rough feeling..died, i waited a second for glow plug lights tried again same start tried giving fuel...died got pretty frustrated waited again...started just fine ran just fine, gave it some revs and drove like i stole on the way home seemed just fine?? thus my confusion now. thinkin maybe a fuel filter i changed the upper one prolly 8-10000 miles ago, never done the lower, not sure if i have a lower i know my buddy does on he's 04 but does the 1997 have a lower filter? does anyone else have any suggestions of what it could be? obviously don't want to have continuous problem! thanks
probably just the dealer f-in with it while i was in the parts store, that's just a thought
The 97 does not have another fuel filter. Just the one on top.
Mine has done this exact same thing 3 times now. Still trying to figure it out.
Also, strangely, of all the places it did it, once was at the Ford dealer, once at the international dealer and the other time in a rest stop out in the middle of nowhere. That was after I had last stopped at a Ford dealer checking out a new mustang.
Thats weird! I figure it's the truck trying to tell me something. My best guess is something in the wire harnesses under the valve cover but I sure can't see anything wrong. Possibly the injector driver too. I just hope I figure it out before I get stranded somewhere.
