Universal Choke Stove Kits

I went to 3 different parts houses in my area to find a Choke Stove Kit. Every one I have seen comes in a kit that contains a 3" long dome that clamps to the header pipe, worm clamps, and the hot air tube with the insulated white covering and replacement hardware. One of the kits had a little strip of asbestos pad that is placed under the dome in the location of the hot air tube.

What about the fresh air tube? There is no mention at all about this tube in ANY of the kits

The directions say to simply clamp the dome to the header pipe with the supplied worm clamp, and then route the supplied hot air tube from the hole in the end of the dome to the choke housing. I can see how the air gets hot under this dome, but is this enough air to heat the choke? I mean with the dome clamped down around the header pipe, I don't see how much air can get in it to be heated.

Would it it be better to simply drill another hole on the other side of that dome and route the fresh air tube from there to the carburetor? This way, there would be a supply of filtered air from the carburetor to the "Stove" clamped to the header pipe and back up the insulated tube to the choke.

If it is this easy to do, why don't any of these kits recognize this and utilize the fresh air tube as well?

Usually, the fresh air tube is sourced from the air cleaner, inside circle of the air filter so the fresh filtered air will be going into the assembly. So you are on the right path.

Trust me, it's enough. And fast. Manifolds start heating up as soon as the engine is running, which is ideal for warming the carburetor up. Stock setups used this forever. With the engine running, the carburetor sucks into a lot of air. So a wafting warm air source straight from the exhaust manifold gets sucked up pretty good into a cold carburetor.

I've seen some past kits that use fresh air, but unfiltered.

I guess my question is, without a source of air routed directly to the dome (choke stove), does the choke receive enough air from the sealed dome (choke stove)?

These Universal kits do not use a fresh air source. So where is the air coming from if the dome is clamped down around the header pipe with no openings to let in fresh air?

Most universal kits I've seen ask you to tap into the header, thus the hot exhaust air will come out to the choke.

However, this is sounding like a pre-heater assembly...if I am reading you right.
