Fuel pump woes.
However after replacing the pump and a few days later the reassuring hum of the new pump went away and the sputtering comes back I was just wondering if there is some kind of relay or something that could be doing this. We tested the old pump and it DID NOT work
There is probably less than 100 miles on the new pump, Could the whole sending unit have gone out? After replacing the pump the fuel gauge did not work correctly anymore. My friend is mad at me for suggesting he buy this truck and I would like to redeem myself by helping him get this thing on the road so it can be as reliable and fun as mine!
Any help greatly appreciated guys

When you, "tested the old pump and it DID NOT work" exactly how did you test it? Is the HP pump running when the LP pump isn't? Exactly what are the pump(s) doing? Do they both have power? Ground? At this point, I'd be inclined to suggest that you get a voltmeter and a wiring diagram for the fuel pump circuit and determine exactly what is going on.
I can say this from my own experience.... Make sure your grounds are clean, as previously stated. A bad ground will caus the pump to pull less amps and over heat.
I can also add this. I bought 3 in a row from Autozone. On the 3rd's failure, I took it to a friends shop. He replaced it with an AC/DELCO pump. He said they are the best. I said I did that to. He showed me the pump. Ya it was in an A/C delco box, I also had the receipt, but not an A/C delco pump.
He got the district manager over to his shop, showed him. He paid for the whole repair, and a Oilchange my choice in oil.
It appears there may be a reboxing issue there. Either way, I learned my lesson and wont buy there again
