I just put new tires (Michelin LT 275/65 R18 LTX A/T2 10 ply) on my Ford 06, 350 SWD PSD and find that it handles differently than the original tires. It wants to wander left and right and more pronounced when towing our Travel Trailer. Is this normal for new tires and do they wear in after a few hundred miles? These are top of the line tires.....My truck has 27,000 miles, old tires showed even wear front and rear....Not Happy
Never had this to happen before with any truck I have owned (maybe I'm just lucky). Several years ago I switched exclusively to BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO tires and have never regretted the decision. I just had a new set put on my truck a few thousand miles ago and everything ran great from day one. I always run 8-ply tires maybe this makes a difference.
BFG's Rock! Did you get new rims to? If so you may look at your alignment. Or tire pressure? Never rely on the installer to check the pressure (lol even though thats what you pay for )

All I did was install new tires. I checked tire pressure...70 front and 80 rear, this is the pressure I use pulling our Travel Trailer..
If you haven't already I would take the truck back to the tire shop and tell them to fix the problem. This is not normal IMO. Maybe something is wrong with one or more of the tires causing this to happen.
Only 27K on the previous set of tires is very low mileage. What was the reason for the new set of rubber?
natem8301 - I agree that BFG's rock. Several years ago I went to a truck pull and noticed that every driver that hooked to the sled had BFG's. I talked to a friend of mine who has been pullin' trucks for several years and he said that everybody that he knew ran this tire. I figured this was a good endorsement and have never regretted this change. They are expensive but IMO worth the money. The traction is outstanding, I can go places in 2WD when other people have to use 4WD.
Just for what its worth,...
I just had new toyos put on my truck and as a sales incentive they are offering free moun,t balance, valve stems, and alignment.
So that being said did some rookie give you a free "out of alignment" job.
And no I didnt let them give me new valve stems or an alignment.

What's the problem with installing new valve stems? I actually request new valve stems be installed.
BTW I'm not slamming Toyo tires because I have very little experience but when I bought my truck it had Toyo tires with about 20K on them and the tread was nearly gone. Hope you have better luck.
I never heard of that before until a year ago, my buddy put wranglers on his 3/4 ton chevy. The exact same symptoms. Exactly.
Here is what he was told, and it was true... They are new, they need to wear abit. Kinda reffered to seating if you will. couple hundred miles, so he said OK... the problem was well documented incase it wasnt true.
Within 200 miles, problem was gone. He has many miles on them and is happy. Go figure.
I am a BFG guy, and never experienced this. Michelin and BFG are the same. Go figure. I would reccomend doing what he did though.. get it documented
Didnt want new valve stems on a truck with 250 miles on it.
Nor did I want an alignment for the same reason.
As far as the toyos go I never had them before, this is a first, but if I end up liking them, and they only last 20,000 miles, I guess I'll new ones in 20,000 miles.
Only time will tell.
My last truck I had a front alignment done and Michelin LTXs put on. Just like you said the truck wandered all over the road. Took it back to the tire dealer and had them check everything again. Since things checked out I just figured the handling was from the tire depth being so deep. The more I drove the truck the better it got. The other post said a couple hundred miles but in my case it was alot more before it got better. When I drove 18 wheelers, every time the boss put on new rubber, the outfit drifted around abit until I put some miles on the tires. I got 120,000 miles on each set of those LTXs, but the truck was a F-150 not F-250. Sold the truck last May with 328,000 on the od. Never got that kind of mileage out of other brands I tried.
I had a set of LTX AT's on my 2003 F350 DRW. They lasted an incredibly long time and wore well with an average amount of rotating. They were not the best traction tire. I was so happy with my AT's that I went with AT2's next. I did not like the way my truck handled either with those and they exhibited the most irregular wear patterns I had seen.

I agree. Not sure if these tires would act the same as on a BIG truck but I am a truck driver and when we get new rubber, IT SUCKS.. Steers or Drives. It wonders all over the road.. Of course the tread depth is like an inch or more so, but after about 200-400 miles it smooths out..
So may be they just need to wear (Break-in) so to speak!!!
