Hello all! I am new to these parts (FTE) and have really enjoyed the use of the search feature thus far! You can see my official intro thread with pics of my truck here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...0b-hazing.html
Anyways.... Now that I have the truck running i've found that the factory shift linkage is FUBAR. I looked around with very little success to find new pieces so I ordered up all the Lokar pieces to go in it. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LOK-70-BFMB/
I am curious to see if anyone else has used these pieces in their trucks and would like to see the finished product. I'll also be putting down new carpet when I do the install, so it should look pretty fresh.
I ended up using a B&M shifter in mine so I don't have any experience with the Lokar. One thing that was emphasized in the fitting was to make sure that the shifter and the gearbox match perfectly in each gear otherwise the auto won't last very long after that. Basically, the pin which holds the linkage or cable to the gearbox's selector arm should be easy to remove and replace in every selector position.
I've got a Lokar shifter and parts ordered too for the AOD I'm having built. My trans guy said Lokar makes really good components. But, I'm worried that the 23" shifter might be too long. I don't want it sticking up too high. What do ya'll think?
Well... 23" is too tall. It makes the throw on the arm too long to be comfortable. In park the **** is just above the window sills. I'm sending it back to get the 16" That will have it just a few inches above the seat. Still plenty tall and not too short.
When I was in my teens I could not afford a floor shifter. I took an auto floor shifter out of a ford minivan and put it in my 67 ford truck. It worked well and the shifter height was just right.
