Not sure this really applies to the original question but I've seen a 99-01 body style ranger with a ball hitch in the bed hooked up to what I would guess to be a 30" dual axle gooseneck flatbed.

He was running empty but I would imagine even unloaded he was running over weight.

Maybe not. My 2002 is rated for 5800 lbs, he was probably close.

I pull a jonboat with 25 hp motor with my 4 cyl. Can't even tell it's back there. The first thing I did when I bought my truck was go get a class 3 receiver. I got it at Rural King. I think it was $149 and I had a coupon out of a sales flyer that offered 20% off any one item.

i will look into the receiver hitch.

now i got to look into what trailer i can tow. I might have found a 7x16 plus v-front.
