04 Sport Trac Died

My sport
trac
4.0L died yesterday, was driving fine all day and last stop before heading home it started fine but when I put it in drive the
rpm's
dropped to 500 and it seemed like it was running on 3 cylinders.put it in neutral and hit the throttle seemed like it was getting to much gas until the revs got up to 2500 then it sounded
fine
no black smoke out the tailpipe though.let the revs drop and it went right down to 500 again and ran rough until it died in the parking lot.only thing that came up was check
gauges
where my odometer is.according to the manual it was either running hot or no oil pressure.I did get it to fire briefly and the oil pressure was fine and temp
gauge
was normal
.it turns over fine but will not fire.any ideas what to look for?

Start by checking for vacuum leaks.

got it fixed,it was the inertia switch under the steering column that crapped out.cut off my gas supply.Ford said it should have reset itself but it didn't.
