Officer Dies
I do respect the job they do,and believe most are under paid, but they chose the profession and must realize it can be a dangerous job.
Key word here is It's a JOB.
My Cousin, a Buffalo cop died last night when his patrol car that he was driving went out of control and hit a tree head on.
They were pursuing a burglary suspect, trying to turn left onto a side street, here in Buffalo.
Of course details are skechy, but looking at a picture this morning, he had to be going at least 60++mph when it hit. His partner was seriously injured also.
At this point, a hour after finding out, I tell ya I don't know how to feel.
This comming a year after the death of my father and his father just recovering from a stroke.
Im getting tired of death and sickness!
Sorry, nobody is here for another 2 hours, just needed to vent a little.
Just found out, that based on witnesses, a car made a illegal left turn in front of the patrol car, which my cousin swereved to avoid, and could not gather it up before hitting the tree.
Full lights and sirens were in use.
Hope the person that cut them off, got to where they were going on time. To make an illegal left turn and to top it off in front of a police car with lights and sirens on, obviousley was in a hurry.
We lost an officer last week when his patrol car (a Crown Vic) was hit in the rear while parked. They say he survived the crash and was killed by the fire from the ruptured gas tank - this has happened before. I'm sure there's a reason, but I don't understand why police cars don't have fuel cells.

Being in the racing business, I've see some pretty bad and fatal wrecks. I got a look at the patrol car today ,and I got to tell ya, it was BAD. I guess thier looking for the car that turned in front of them and also saying that they will persure man slaughter charges against the robbey suspects "when" they catch them.
It's a pretty big deal here also because another officer was killed in a on duty accident the other day in the next town.
Thanks again for all your thoughts.

yeti, it sounds like youve suffered alot of losses in the past year. i am very sorry to hear all this. my condolences to you and your family. your cousin was doing the best he could to help your community.
i am 19 years old now. ill be 20 in one week from today. when i was between 11 years old and 14, it seemed like i couldnt go a month without a family member dying. i lost so many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and family friends in those few years. just think about this- i havent had to go to a funeral in almost 6 years. you are facing a challenge right now that will soon be a part of the past.
things will start to look up, just stay strong and keep your health up. go to work everyday, pay your bills, and spend as much time with your family as you can. i never got to tell most of my family how much i loved them, so make sure you do. everyone here at FTE knows your pain and will give you courage when things look down.

Being a firefighter, and having lots of close friends who are police officers, I understand the risks that police officers go through. I work with them everyday. We often don't think about the risks we take. Yes it is just a job, but, not one that many people are willing to do. I hope they get the person that turned in front of him. More than likely, when he calls 911, he'll be the first to ask "what took so long." My heart goes out to you and your family.
