Mechanis says 5SPD has problems!
Well, I suspected the trans ahd problems. He said they will open it up Monday. He also said that the Clutch assemble was worn out. I told him about the pivot thing that can fis the hole on the clutch cable and get ride of the nylon bushing, but he says the whole assembly, the rod the clutch peddle rides on, it worn plum out. Says need to order one from Ford? It does have 316,000 miles on it, so I think it is probably worn out and I don't think the odmeter has been turned back! LOL, Got all parts to him including 12 quatrs on ROYAL PURPLE, pretty expensive, but I hope it's worth it. Let me know what you' think of prognocices so far. Hope he get done with everything by end of week. He said he would look at the stearing column bearing and fix it if he has time, I guess 316,000 miles of pulling a big bett into the cab of the truck takes it's toll!!

How do you know if the tranny has problems if you can't even clutch it yet? These ZF trannies are _nearly_ bulletproof.
The Dorman/Motormite replacement part (14041) is around $6.00 at your FLAPS. Takes all of a minute to install. Start with that and see what happens. If the cross-shaft the pedal rides on is really that bad, you could probably find at least one in better shape at a salvage yard.

The truck is drivable, I drove it to the trans shop, it is very noisy and it is hard to get into 2nd gear, actually imposable if the truck is moving. You can put it in gear if the tru8ck is at a standstill.
