Fuel Problem

My truck has sat for almost 2 years without running and I recently put a new electric fuel pump on it and rebuilt the carb. I was worried about the gas, but it fired right up and ran great. The problem is I now can't get any fuel to the pump and don't know if the line got something in it or what. Does anyone have any ideas on cleaning out the line or priming the pump to get fuel?

Most pickups have a screen on them in the tank. Is it plugged with rust dirt or other debri? Do you have enough fuel in the tank? did the pick up fall off or break? Is your fuel filter plugged?

You can try this... disconnect the inlet line from the pump. (If the pump is in the tank, then you cannot do this process.) Use a airchuck from a compressor, and a rag. take off the gas cap. put preassure in the tank, see if gas comes out of the hose. If not, or a small amount does then it is plugged. If air comes out your pickup isnt in the gas or your out of gas.

If a small amount comes out, then put the airchuck in the hos off the fuel pump , and hit it with air. This will blow off the pick screen any dirt or debri. The hook it back to the pump and try it, If this works, it will only work temperary, and the tank will need decontaminated.
