I have a 78 F250 with weak headlights and and the lights also pulsate. Every so often the lights will go out all together. i just reach down around the fuse block and wiggle some wires and they'll come back on. i just installed a brand new battery that has 900 cold cranking amps so it has all kinds of power. what is the easiest way to either fix the problem or rewire the lights from one end to the other.
First thing I would do is run a ground wire from one of the regulator mounting bolts to the neg of the battery. That usually reduces the pulsating.
Sounds like you do have a loose connection also. I bet you are wiggling wires going into the headlight switch itself. I would pull the headlight switch and check the plug. They tend to get hot and melt and the connections will get loose. Also check the wiring down at the high/low beam switch in the floor. It usually gets wet and corroded down there in the floor.
