I have a 2001 f150 that i just replaced the ignition lock cylinder in and the new keys won't start the truck. I followed the directions for reprogramming but my anti theft won't allow the truck to turn over. Any suggestions and answers would be greatly appreciated to start my truck.
This is what the manual says: NOTE: The lock cylinder is repaired by discarding the inoperative lock cylinder and building a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package (F85Z-11582-AA). The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle
No clues in the factory manual as to what the detailed instructions are.
I just called a locksmith with the necessary programmer and he programmed my new keys. It cost me a hundred dollars but prevented me from calling a tow truck to take my truck to the grossly overpriced dealership.
