I have searched for this and can't find it on the site. I have also looked through my shop manuals and could not locate it. I bought a MSD distributer for my 1989 5.0 Bronco that has a steel gear on it. The paperwork from MSD says that it will only work with a roller cam and I need an iron gear if I have a flat cam. How do I find out what type of cam I have?
It is the original cam. I was having ignition problems when I was in the desert and thought is was the TFI module. I relocated the TFI to the fire wall to keep it cooler. Problem still persisted so I took it to a automotive electric shop here in Los Angeles and they feel the distributor is the problem. I went with a new distributor to make sure I did not miss anyting if I rebuilt it.

I know its been a few years but how did you move the TFI to the fire wall what did you need to do it?
I have a 89 4.9L with the TFI or ICM on the Dizzy and I wand to move it but have no idea how to do it. thanks
