Need Advice..Possible purchase

Hi Guys,
I went looking around today for a newer F-150,and ran across an 03 F-150XLT,Extended cab, with the 4.6 engine. It appears to be in good shape. Its showing 116,000 miles.Automatic, power etc.
Need some advice wheather to steer clear of this,or does it warrant further looking into.Im contemplating trading my 97 150XL,4.2 automatic.
The guy that runs the lot actually is a relative(by marriage) and i have yet to get the "Father-in-law" price.....need some advice soon...Thanks in advance.

well, since you got a 97 you should have a good idea of the reliability. I bought a 2001 with 125k miles 3-4 years ago and never looked back. They are great trucks and the newer the better. 4.6 will have a lot more power and probalby same or better milage.

If the price is reasonable I would go for it. There have been many changes from 97 to 03, and with the 4.2 v6 to the 4.6 v8 you will notice a big difference in performance. If it looks good and runs good I would purchase the vehicle, do all the proper maintenance, tune up, fluid changes, and system checks, to start your log of maintenance records on the truck. good luck!
