Here is my answer.
The CCV mod is when you look at the bottom side of your air intake tube, there is a hose coming from the drivers side valve cover, and it goes into the bottom of that air intake. It is a Crank Case Ventilation hose, hence the term CCV. People like to remove it from the air intake, because when you vent the crank case, it will have oil vapors in it. These vapors condense, getting crank case oil in the intake tract and could potentially cause the intercooler to partially clog with oil, and it can, and usually does eventually cause the intercooler boots to weep oil. Many people get a section of heater hose and run it out somewhere down the frame rail of the truck, towards the back so the fumes don't get in the cab, and the vapors go out directly to the atmosphere.
I hope that helps, if you have any other questions, you can click on the roadside help network link in my signature then go to the mods and maintenance tab. It will explain a lot of stuff to you. There is an acronym section too, that will explain alot of the abbreviations like CCV, HPOP, LPOP, etc.
Not that I mind answering your questions or anything. I (and many others) just found that very useful when I was a newbie.

Good luck and happy reading.
