Why do you want to raise the idle?

short answer NO.

research OBD1 engine control systems. computer totally controls engine idle rpm based upon air temp, coolant temp and other parameters it monitors.

if the engines dies at idle or lopes, there is a problem. usually component failure

idle rpm should be about 750. look up the specs on the 3L engine
computer and Idle Air Control valve will maintain correct spec'd idle w hvy alternator, a/c and in drive load with brake on if all the components are functioning correctly.
you make have a crudded gooped up throttle body plate and/or a malfunctioning plugged up IAC
any codes, many codes do not set a CEL?

3L's usually idle purr like kittens. can hardly hear my 4L idle, have hit the starter when it was already running.

if it has a replacement import alternator, then alternator idle output is often nill or very low because of the low grade recycled copper garbage the Chinese call copper wire. many of them barely put out 50 amps at 3000 rpm.

The problem is the idle is just to low and just drove it about 4000mi round trip and it ran great no idle issues or anything.Been back home for a month or two and now all of of sudden just idles lower but still runs great.
Could this be a possible vacume leak or maybe I should try and reset the ecm?
Thanks for the help
BTW prior to leaving for chicago I replaced the air filter, fresh oil change, throtle body thoroughly cleaned,MAF cleaned, fuel filter about 10,000mi.

unplug the IAC electrical plug. idle should drop to point engine dies.
will tell you if IAC is working, may still be partially plugged

Mine idles at about 850. If I pull off the IAC plug the idle will drop but the engine does not die. You may have to clean the throttle body bore where the butterfly plate is .If your idle speed does not drop by 100 rpms or so replace the IAC valve. I don't think Ford IAC's can be cleaned.
Maf sensor could still need cleaning.
Check fuel pressure at idle speed should be about 35PSI.

Pull off a vacuum tube & see if idle speed increases.

I would first try re-setting the pcm. Just unplug the battery for about 20 minutes, reconnect and start up the vehicle, make sure that all of the accessories are on (lights, stereo, a/c, ect) that way the computer will learn the load on the engine, and take it for a drive in the city and highway for quicker learning.

Then if the issue is still present, we will check out other avenues.
