otherwise it might be something in the valve body? from the sounds of it a tranny flush & filter change won't help...but might.
maybe just a linkage issue

started simple and pulled the pan just to see what the mechanical linkage looked like on the inside and some how it came off! its simple enough to fix and put back together.. but any idea how this can happen the only way ik to put it back on is to pull the main valve body and slide it in the slot as i put the body back on.. i guess what i wanta know is how in the heck would the linkage come apart? thanks again!

Truck is in forward gears in PRND21
Mine goes forward in neutral sits still in reverse (tries to back up) and feels like it's under a load in park. Checked fluid levels and trans temp gauge never goes above half, shifts smooth through all 4 gears and 7.3 is running smooth. Is there any possible solutions besides a rebuild.

Thanks bluegrass7 I feel like I'm just trying to reach anything other than forward gears are welded and I'm gonna pay some wild amount to fix it.. I just don't understand how it can shift so smooth through gears but not back up or go in neutral 😡😡 hate automatics.

Something is getting mixed up in translation.
My reply was to post #7.
The poster mentions a 7.2 motor. I can only take his word for that being a large Diesel motor and don't know what transmission he has.
There is now a 7.3 push rod gas motor along with a 6.2 pushrod gas motor.
Therefore I recommend he consult a shop for another opinion. as a admission I have no good answer
My further replies were off hand from experience.
I'm sorry they made no sense to you because of your interpretation..
Likely seen from an e-mail notice instead of going to the thread and seeing possible other responses..
Therefore Mark I did not appreciate your unnecessary slam.
This is what can happen by a new post (in the wrong forum) to an old thread where people don't pay attention and post something completely new.
You may disagree but at least do it in a reasonable manner.
We were replying to two different posts in the same threads.
Look at the time/date lines..
