Transfer case part numer

Good morning guys.

Last night I dropped my tranny and transfer case for a new clutch and throwout bearing.

When I got the transfer case out I found where the PO broke the mount for the transfer case shifter and tried to JB weld it back in place. So I need to replace that collar. It is the collar that mounts the NP435 transmission to the NP205 transfer case.I circled the collar, and put an arrow to where the transfer case shifter is.

I need a part number to get this ordered. Thanks guys.

Thanks, that didn't have what I needed, but got me on the track of what I needed. It is called Manual Intermediate Housing (According to JBG)

There are two of these adapaters available. One long and one short. Make sure that you replace with the appropriate adapter.
Often refered to as a transmission to transfer case adapter.

I have welded the boss back on with much success. Not a bunch of strain on it if the shift rails are working fine.

I see where he tried JB weld on it before, I may grind that off and try to reweld it.

But in case that doesn't work I would like to know what is out there so I know my options.

You will just have to measure that thing and make sure that you have the correct length or you will find that the driveshafts no longer fit.
If you weld, use a reasonable amount of pre-heat and an extended period of post heat. If you are using the arc method, high nickle rod is necessary.
Other methods can utilize stainless, or some nickle wire / filler.

I would try to repair first. I have repaired with success.

(sigh) How about listing what you're working on?

You know...minor stuff like what year is it? What series, part time or full time T/C?

I may be able to find you a new original part, but first I need to know the particulars.

There is a metal tag on the transfer case with an Ford ID number on it like this for example: D7TA-7A195-AA.

Posting the ID number would also help.

is it crakced thru enough to leak fluids? you could seal it with jb weld and build a bracket for the tcase shifter outa steel bar that mounts to the bolts on the face of the tcase, would be pretty easy and fairly cheap

Sorry. This is off of a 1976 F-150. Standard Cab, 8" bed. The housing is 8 3/4" long. Part time 4x4. I looked for the ID number on the tag, but it is very corroded, I could barely make out NP205.

Thanks

The T/C shift lever and bracket is a one piece assembly (D3TZ7210E), but from looking at pics in the parts catalog, this isn't what you need.

It looks like what you need is what Ford calls the extension housing that the bracket of the lever attaches to.

FTE member jermafenser has the parts catalog on a CD, can scan and post pics (I'm using microfiche).

You need to look at the following:

1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 70, pages 2 & 5.
