94 F-150 8ft bed cap will it fit 09 F-150 8ft ?
Hello,
I have a 94 F-150 8ft bed with a leer cap. Will this cap fit on a 2009 F-150 8ft bed ? Can the cap be repainted to match 09 ? Pictures in file.
With the Cash for Clunkers I am moving towards a 09. Wanted to see if I could save some instead of having to buy a new cap for over a $1000.
Also any experience with do it yourself bed liners is appreciated. Are results worth savings?
As always Thank you for input. Makes solving Truck concerns easier.
Thank you

I think the beds are slightly different.
You may also want to check to make sure your truck applies to the cash for clunkers program. I read an article this morning that said that a lot of vehicles are no longer applicable to it.
For example a guy has a n 88 gran marquis that supposedly got a combined 18 mpg. The epa site recently changed that estimate to 19 so it is not longer able to be considered a clunker.
That truck looks nice and it has a newer Jasper motor. I wouldn't let them scrap it. If you don't want it anymore and want to upgrade then sell it. There aren't as many really nice 92-96 trucks anymore. If it was a beater then it wouldn't matter. Is your 94 having problems?
In my opinon the DIY bedliners suck. I'm not interested in the overpriced Line X etc. I don't have anything but the rubber mat in mine. I think its great.
Also, If your hoping for better fuel economy from a new truck, you probably won't see it.

I think you could sell your truck for 4000 or so the way it is. I don't think you'll get more than that from cash for clunkers. I say put it on craigslist and see if there are any takers.
Personally, I would just keep it. Its much easier to work on than the new trucks and parts for it are not as expensive either. The tires are definitely cheaper for the 94. For reference we did the brakes on my friends 01 and it was about 30 percent more in cost than the same stuff on my truck.

I like the 94 truck as well. Already talked to Dealer and can get 4500 for it. Do not want to deal with MD inspection to sell etc. For me it may be more practical. I need a full size truck god willing for another 15 years. 94 truck is not going to last 15 more years. At some point it will need trans or computer or something that would tip the cost the wrong way. At this point 4500 is about what I have in this truck probably a little more. Hopefully a new truck will last 15 years. However if when I go to the dealer later this week they start the usual BS I may just keep the truck for awhile and keep looking.

Take a look at the Total cost of ownership:
http://autos.yahoo.com/2009_ford_tru...yleside-price/
That is the cheapest F150, and it will depreciate by ~$13k over the first 5 years. Aside from the added insurance costs of a new truck, that $13k could keep your '94 truck running for quite a while. There are many good reasons to buy a new truck, but financially you will be better off buying a truck that is 2-5 years old.

A few year old truck would be less expensive. If the Government is willing to offer 4500. That should help off set cost of new. Also not looking for resale value on a new truck. Looking to keep it for 15 years. Cost of new truck - 4500 = about 100 dollars a month cost for 15 years. Current truck is about 15 years old and just getting to the point of needing major things and continually nagging about small things. Also wife will not drive current truck and wants to drive new truck. Which surprized me.

Resale value may not seem important, but it is because you are paying more upfront. Spending $6k more on a new truck (instead of a two year old truck) to get a $4.5k credit doesn't make sense, unless you are doing it to appease the wife.

All costs are not figured in. Cost of having unreliable truck leaving us stranded several hundred miles from home. Has alresdy happened once. Cost of having truck towed back. Cost of missed work. Cost of hotel. Cost of time off. Cost of rental. Buying a 5 year old truck and trying to make it last a total of 20 years has more costs as well. Not figuring in my time and costs to continue to throw money into current truck. Cost and repairs to get current Truck through MD inspection to sell. Thank you for the link to info. It is very helpful.

You wont get the 4500 cash for your truck by buying a used truck. So you have to go for a new one. That truck is very straight for a truck and could give a kid a good start on a vehicle. I am not going to tell you what to do with your vehicle, here in Missouri you could post that truck and sell it for the 4500 easily without anything more than signing the title over to someone.

I have been going round and round with this. KBB trade in value for this truck in very good condition is something like 2500.00 This Truck would not qualify for very good condition. It needs tires to pass Md inspection it woud need a new Windshield because current one has stone chips and 1/4 inch crack in passenger corner. Also MD inspection would want other things most likely front brake hoses and more they would come up with. Been through this before in MD. Also this is the salt belt. Rear fender wells, rear suspension etc. all the problems talked about all the time on here with a truck this age.
