Well unfortunately in this case I have 100k on my truck and it started about 8k ago. It is well out of warranty.
When you order it a new TSB eliminated the Cardan joint. The truck is smooth as can be. I am ready for my next 100K in this truck. I truly love my Expedition. This is the only thing that has gone wrong. Meanwhile my neighbor's Dodge is in the shop all the time with only 14k on it. My other neighbor is on his third Chevy. The previous two have had transmission and electrical problems. My truck runs and drives just as good as the day I bought it.
>self or did they do it?
They cost $330.00. I asked for a discount and they gave me one. I think the price was around $275.00. I bought some other stuff so I am not 100% sure. I installed it myself in about 10 minutes. Four bolts torqued to 85 ft lbs. I used loctite too. I could have had one built for about $225.00-$250.00 (you have to purchase a yoke) but the one from Ford is the exact length and comes ballanced with the best u-joints you can get. I recomend spending the extra money.
