Steering wander/slop?
I know theres quite a few topics on this already. But I'm getting ready to shell out about $150 on a steering box so I'm just wondering if this is most likely it. The problem isn't as bad at low speeds, gravel roads, stuff like that, but on the highway around 50 on up I can hit a bump and cross about 3 lanes of traffic hahaha. Though we had this problem remedied when the old torn up rag joint was replaced, but the problem is back. Before that, my mechanic adjusted the gearbox which seemed to work for a month or so, now we're back to the scary steering. I checked, and had checked, my tie rod ends/ball joints, their fine. My mechanic is thinking its gotta be the steering box is shot. Its leaking anyway, about a quart a week. My shocks are all fine, replaced brand new about a year and a half ago. Probably the gearbox? Does it cause the wander/touchiness I'm experiencing? Drove my friends truck the other day and it was a pleasure to just get away from how mine handles.
