could you guys recommend a brake controller for my 04 f350 6.0l? will it just plug in under the dash? looking for the better of the choices available. i searched an most were for 05 and later trucks so dont know if there is a difference. thanks guys!
Its hard to see but I believe thats the plug.(Red Circle) Its a ***** to get to.
I have the tekonsha P3 (Tekonshas #1 controller) on my 04' and I highly recomend it. Its nicer in many ways and has more features than the Prodigy my dad has on his truck. I got the premade harness for my truck from Tekonsha that plugs into the vehicle harness and the controller with no other wiring. Mount the controller, plug in the harness and your done.
Mine (I made the mount but the controller comes with 2 or 3 mounts)
I bought a "draw tight" The unit has many adjustments that are easy... how hard they apply, and delay. It was simple to hook up, and the comical thing is... I bought it in 95 or so, as a quik need and figured I would upgrade later. It was cheap and new. Well I grew to like it, and took it out of many vehicles, and put it in new ones as I bought them, until 06 which now I have an integrated one... Before I traded in my van, I took it out. My sons have both used it, as the installed a plug in harness in there trucks... It was cheap, low maint, easy to use, and trouble free. It even has a seperate control **** to apply brakes only.
I would have never thought it would be as nice, durable, maint free as it was, but it was.
I dont know if they offer a plug either. Wireing it was easy,
