Tool Kit Missing?

Just got my 2009 F150 XLT - really enjoying the truck. I was looking for my fuel funnel that goes into the capless filler neck, and the manual says its under the rear seat in the compartment where the tool kit is. Well I found the funnel, but there's nothing else in that space.

Did they forget to give me something?

I think the tool kits only come on chevy trucks since they spend a lot of time on the side of the road broken down. No tool kit in the ford - the manual is probably referring to the tire jack which is also underneath the rear seat.

Lift the cardboard tray out to access the jack and tire iron. There are two wing nuts under the passenger side seat that hold it down.

Okay...just out of curiosity, what is the fuel funnel for? I'm sure if I tore my manual apart I could find it there but my dealer never briefed me on it. Can one of you really smart guys give me a quick tutorial on it.

Really I think it is just to help pour fuel if you have a flimsly portable gas tube or line to hold the gas door spring open when you're not at a standard pump.

I think it would allow you to add fuel using a jerry can as it will open the capless part of it. Otherwise, you're not going to dump fuel into your truck when you're stuck on the side of the road using a normal can.

This is from the owners manual of my new Escape. The info would be the same except for the storage location of the funnel.

Refilling with a portable fuel container
With the Easy Fuel™ “no cap” fuel system, use the following directions
when filling from a portable fuel container:
WARNING:
Do not insert the nozzle of portable fuel containers
or aftermarket funnels into the Easy Fuel™ system. This could
damage the fuel system and its seal, and may cause fuel to run onto
the ground instead of filling the tank, which could result in serious
personal injury.

WARNING:
Do not try to pry open or push open the Easy
Fuel™ system with foreign objects. This could damage the fuel
system and its seal and cause injury to you or others.
When filling the vehicle’s fuel tank from a portable fuel container, use the
funnel included with the vehicle.
1. Locate the white plastic funnel. It
is attached to the inside of the rear
passenger side cargo compartment
access door.
2. Slowly insert the funnel into the
Easy Fuel™ system.

3. Fill the vehicle with fuel from the portable fuel container.
4. When done, clean the funnel or properly dispose of it. Extra funnels
can be purchased from your authorized dealer if you choose to dispose
of the funnel.
Do not use aftermarket funnels; they will not work with
the Easy Fuel™ system and can damage it. The included funnel has
been specially designed to work safely with your vehicle.
