Check engine soon

03' F-150, 4sp auto, 160k

Today my "check engine soon" light came on, I had it check by a local auto parts store and the reader came up with "burning lean right side, burning lead left side", what does that mean and can I fix this problem myself?

maybe your truck is running lean due to the o2 sensors sending a bad reading to the (ecu)(computer)?

just a guess

Could be a hole in the PCV elbow.

It isn't the O2 sensors - they are just reporting the condition.

torkum's suggestion covers 80% (or more) of this code combo.

Can someone post a pic of the pcv elbow or tell me where to look. The truck is now starting to idle fast than slow than rough and it died on me in traffic today. Also could this be bad gas?

Its the plastic intake ,its 2 pc's with seals between them held together with 8 - 12 bolts.must be getting p0172/p0173 or the like.couple hundred bucks if doit yourselfer.I replaced mine and the iac motor and no problems since. This is not a guess but a proven fix -damn vac leak why its running lean 5.4 and 4.2 worst for it.
