DPFE. Its the little black plastic box that has two hoses going to it from your EGR tube that goes to the lh exhaust manifold. Its just forward of the EGR valve and has one connector.

BTW: Rock auto has it for $39.00

Here's what it looks like.

Isn't EGR grand, more parts to cost you money. I'm glad my 04' doesn't have it. I was actually surprised at the price for the DPFE in the link Destroya posted. Last year the DPFE crapped out on one of the explorers and the Ford dealer charged me $150 for a new DPFE.

Before you go replacing parts I would check and make shure the hoses in and out of the DPFE sensor arn't cracked or anything. The DPFEs passages do clog up and go bad over time so if yours is original I'd say its probably near the end of its life. Would be a good time to check all the other EGR lines and pull the throttle body off and clean it too.

Ok I cant seam to post a link to the part but I think I got the right one. I ordered it from Rock auto, they had 4 of them at different prices from $38.99 up to almost $70. I got the cheap one. Is there a difference between a more expensive one and a cheaper or is the cheap one fine??
