Were working all weekend just fine on our camping trip, then when we got home they quit working. Sounds like they should lock and unlock and I can hear something clicking under the dash, but the locks won't move. Weird that they all 4 quit working at once. I see there's a fix for the actuators by breaking them apart and using foil. Question is do I have to do all 4? Or can I figure out which one to do easily?
I doubt if all four would fail at the same time sounds like a bad relay or poor fuse connection. Usually the relays will chatter when they have low voltage to them. Try swapping some relays and look in the owners manual for the proper fuses associated with the door lock.
I'm still reading up on it. I think it's one of those deals where if 1 goes bad, none of them work?
Anyone? I'm at a loss here. I can hear some type of relay under the dash working, but none of the locks even tries to move.
Mine try to move when I hit the button on my FOB, but just don't travel the distance to lock or unlock. You can actually see them move a little but thats it. So I'm interested in what everybody has to say.
There are different relays for the system. IIRC there are ones for all lock all unlock etc.
What happens if you hit the button on each door to unlock that individual door?
Here's how I've noticed my locks going bad... Mine started to go bad this spring. First it was the front passenger door. After it warmed up some more, it was the rear passenger door. Now that it's really hot, the driver's door goes out when the sun is hitting it and now it's making its final kill on the rear driver's side door. From what I've read, that's pretty much how they go - one-by-one. When I hit the unlock button in the truck or on the FOB, you hear the unlocking noise and they attempt to move, but don't. It sounds like yours might be something else.
I've read that there's a mod where you disassemble the locking mechanism and wrap some tin foil around a piece of metal to "fix" it. It's my understanding that there is a downside to doing that. You can burn up the motor if you hold down the button too long, or if a dog is stepping on it, etc. I'm in for buying 4 new locking mechanisms and installing them. It sounds like it's going to be a PITA.

If I use the button on each door nothing happens. Nothing happens if I use the door buttons or the key fob. And the locks don't even try to move...all 4 of them.

If they quit all of a sudden then it is probably a fuse or the all unlock relay crapped out Keith. I can look up the diagrams in the am too lazy right now to dig up the drive that I have them on right now.
I've taken off the driver's side door panel. I am now faced with 2 things. The first is that the actuators are not getting any power at all. The second is that I see someone has added aftermarket actuators to at least that door, possibly the others.
So I am looking at kind of a mess to sort out as I don't know if the PO just added aftermarket actuators or added a whole new keyless system or what. Since I've been using the factory key fob, I'm guessing he just added the actuators to the factory keyless system where needed, but somewhere there's a break in the power because they aren't getting any power.
I've checked every fuse and maxi-fuses, I'm not sure where to go next. I guess I can just go and get one of those aftermarket keyless entry kits from here and call it a day: http://www.ford-trucks-power-locks.c...50F250F350.asp
Keith check the wires where the go through the rubber boot going into the door on the drivers front door. The wiring going through that boot constantly flexes when you open and close that door gets fatigued and brakes. Could be the power wire to the switches going through that boot has broken. Check for soft spots in the wire I had one break inside the wire insulation, it wasnt visible only found it by dumb luck, not complaining dumb luck is my best friend sometimes.
I have power coming in to the switches and out of the switches. I hear some relays activate under the dash. It's somewhere after the door switches. I'll check those wires in the boot.
At this point I'm thinking it might be a lot quicker and easier to just add a whole new keyless entry system over tracing wires, etc.
