I doubt it. On a worn engine, just use a heavier grade to keep the pressure up and the rings sealed until it finally dies. I kept an old Toyota going for quite a while on straight 40. Anyway, its the zinc additive, not the base oil itself that counts when the oil pressure fails and there is metal to metal contact.

Yes. Especially a heavier grade type IV or V synthetic such as 15W-50 Mobil 1.
