my 95 has been sitting for a few months and the battery has been disconnected and reconnected many times during those months...i ran the truck today and had a CEL, after i cleaned up all the fuses and everything (P.O. had mix matched and improper fuses) i disconnected the battery and reconnected it a few mins later, after running the truck the CEL was still on
i hook up to check the codes, fully engage clutch, truck in neutral, key on then the CEL comes on and stays steady rather than flashing codes, then it gets weird, the ABS light starts flashing the codes instead of the CEL but the ABS flashed 111 meaning no fault codes? so why is the CEL on if there are no codes and why is the ABS light flashing rather than the CEL?
thats why i posted, im lost, the first time i ran the codes in this truck it was last winter and the CEL flashed and it worked fine...i gotta figure this out, if the parking break cable is not hooked up could it cause this? i dont see how but since its unhooked my "parking brake" light is on no matter where the floor pedal is when it worked fine before
I think the E brake light should only be on it the pedal is down. Ive looked at mine before and I think that is how it works. I'm not sure why the light would be on with out the cable hooked up. I doubt that is causing it. I bet the brake light is on for the same reason the ABS light flashes.
Is that the original gauge cluster in there or has it been changed?
if i remember right that is the side with the oil pressure gauge, so it is not original, i totally forgot i changed that out when my oil pressure gauge flat lined on me but i never had any codes as a result of that up until now
the e-brake light should not be one cause ive pulled the pedal out all the way, i had to change the e-brake switch because th light would not come on at all, i had the light working properly but i broke the adjustment rod and havent got a new one to hook it back up yet and every since then the light has stayed on steady
i can read the codes through the ABS light its just wierd that my CEL is on with the truck running yet the code is 111 meaning no fault codes?
yeah the parking brake light is purely in the pedals position, my cable is also disconnected but the light will come on if the pedals down. sounds like somethings crosswired if the abs is flashing the cel diagnostic
thats what i was thinking but last time i ran the codes it was fine, this is the first time i ve ran the codes since i replaced that side of the gauge cluster, so if that is the case then its in the cluster, the CEL and the parking brake light just started happening, they worked fine a while ago but its not giving me any codes just a CEL?
since your ABS and CEL are crosswired, it is possible that your ABS light is on, indicating that the ABS system was turned off bc of a problem. My friends ABS light is on constantly. it doesnt really harm anything unless you really like ABS
i have no abs at all, pulled all the fuses LOL, well actually the spots for the fuses arent even hooked up, you cant even plug the fuses in, not that i would in the first place
Almost sounds like the abs & CEL lamps got reveresed at the time of the oil gause change. I bet if your abs/brake light worked you would have a CEL light lit whenever your P-Brake was on. Maybe the CEL light is light because of a low fuild or low pressure condition in the breaking system ??? Good luck.
His ABS light(that to him is his CEL) is on because the computer senses a problem in the ABS system, because it's disconnected. Parking brake light is of no interest to him because his cables disconnected, as is mine. The light only comes on when it senses the pedals pushed down slightly. Your truck seems fine 9.ford.5, if you could fix the crossed wires that'd make it even better haha
i gotta get all the lights to go away before the inspection haha...last resort is pulling bulbs, id rather fix whatever might be wrong...
the brakes have low fluid due to caliper swap during SAS and have not been bled yet cause i still need new lines that could (should) bring up a CEL and it does, problem is its not throwing codes at me
I did not know that the brake system was tide into ECM on OBD-I. I thought the brake light lit via sensors on the master cylinder ( level ),proportioning valve ( pressure ) and parking brake position switch ( p-brake on/off ). But I will say I may be wr wro wron wron ..... Well you know.
