need help please

sorry for so long but here is an update. replaced the fuel pump and starter truck runs. brake lights gave me some problem. used a multimeter and wasnt gettin voltage at the light or at the brake switch so i just wired it into my fuse box, brake lights work great. so as of right now its road worthy, with the few exceptions.
1st i was told i was missing a smog pump, i dont know a whole lot about these fill me in.
2nd it doesnt have a catilytic converter does it need one?
any info on either of these would be great. thanks guys.

Timbersteel, Sorry for the late update but I found that the ground wire at the battery terminal had dropped off and it fried the wire to the EGR vacuum switch. It had to get a ground somewhere, so that ended up frying the ECU. After I replaced the ECU and replacing the ground at the battery( black/green wire in the harness) the truck ran. I then had to remove the fuel tank which was a total loss because of rust. Replaced with a new Dorman tank and the fuelpump/gauge unit. Also had to bypass the tank diverter valve because it leaked fuel. Truck runs good now.
