94 idi upgrades ?
253,000 miles on this truck none towing miles all highway. Smokes when first started other than that no smoke , runs great just a little rough idle now and then. Already modifide air intake with large 5" pipe to grill(amazing dif in power n mpgs) next will be k&n filter. Thinking of 3"-4" straight piping the exhaust. Is the stock turbo ok ? read that ford had ats/navistar detune the crap at of it with bumps and ridges inside the housing to the point that it will barely spool is this true ? any help would be great , this is the first diesle ive owned.
I would say its time for a new injection pump and injectors thats alot of miles on the origanals, new ip and injectors timed right will bring back some lost horse power, if you have a factory ford turbocharger getting the ats outlet housing and downpipe along with a boost an egt gauges to monitor everything and turn the boost and fuel up on it you should be able to get close to 270 hp at the crank
chorn119,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.
The only supplier of fuel system parts I have never seen a bad report on is www.mwfi.com
Here is a fair source for Isspro gauges.

After you have gauges, we can talk about adjusting.

there are other options on injection pumps depending on how much money you want to spend or how much power you want, there is a guy on oilburners who builds custom injection pumps called the "moose pump" it puts out much more than stock you must have a turbocharger and is recomended to have an intercooler and absolutly must have gauges before you adjust anything!
