I changed the oil/oil filter today(2002 F350) and noticed a very slight drip coming from the oil drain plug as in the past. I use the M14 cooper washer and tighten the drain plug snugly. I know the Fomoto is available, but I am not interested with the Fomoto at this time. Any ideas?
Yup, always use a new copper washer each time. Somebody else told me they tried a nylon washer worked great. Next time I'll try that, hopefully that will work?
Alright, fellas, after 123,000 miles, never had a drip, call me lucky but everytime I do an oil change, I flip the copper washer over on the bolt, never leaked. Repeat on the the next oil change.

That's what I do!! Had the drips once when I reused the original & didn't flip it...

Ahh, great to hear. Because of the copper being a more plyable metal, it conforms and seals again. At an estimated three 5000 mile changes and 10,000 syn. interval changes afterward, about 13-14 estimated flips of the copper seal and alls good
It's funny that some of you guys mentioned you have used the same copper washer over again without any drips. I have done so with my wife's Infinity QX4, never a drip using the same copper washer. Maybe I'll try a nylon washer next time?
After all my oil drains, I wipe the bolt head and washer and the opening where the oil comes out real good then reinstall. blue1ton, if the copper washer is working for you, why change?? Don't want to mess up a good thing...
You don't have to use a new copper washer every time. When you drain the oil, take your copper washer and set it on a hard, flat surface. An anvil is key if you have one. Then take a hammer and tap the washer flat. Do not smash the washer. Tap it flat on one side, flip it and flatten more. Do it a couple times and check it to see if it's flat. When you reinstall the washer, it won't leak. I've done this twice on the copper washer that was installed on the rig when I bought it. I'd recommend getting a new washer every 3rd oil change or so, or when the washer looks worn.
I tried flipping it my first oil change and it dripped. Maybe I didn't have the ***** to tighten it more.
I agree As much as I spend on this truck. I don't mined putting a new 25 cent washer on every oil change just to not have a drip again. But if flipping works for you great.
My dealer gave me a half dozen copper washers last time I was getting some parts. When I pay $45 for a fuel filter...they at least can give me some copper washers for free.
