So i need a part (rear wiper cover) that's like 5 dollars but everyone wants to charge me upward of 20 dollars to ship a 5 dollar part. WTF!!!! And the local dealer wants like 29 dollars for the same part special ordered!
Make USPS Priority mail a part of your life. Priority mail has delivery confirmation, so they can verify if it's delivered or lost, it's usually under $12 and you have flat rate boxes available. It's a nice way to ship stuff, I once received 65lbs of cast bullets and because the shipper put it in a flat rate box, shipping was under $8 I think.
UPS and Fedex will eventually save the US postal system with their high prices. Another thing I do, is request they ship it in a padded envelope for a dollar or two. Most companies are willing to use the online shipping and scheduled pickup websites, but you will have to ask for it most of the time. I drop it in the comments section and have yet to be disappointed.
I had a 94 Cadillac trunk lid shipped from Arkansas to West Virginia for $50 by Greyhound. I just had to pick it up from the bus terminal. Have you tried Rockauto?

if it is small enough i'll ship it for a little cheeper, I use FED-EX ground for the tracking but I did just pick up flat rate boxes from USPS today, so I can try to make a buck or two on shipping. but sometimes I lose a few too, in no way am I living all fat and happy on shipping. hahahaha
just trying to make a living. Place the order and let me see what I can do.

ps: that was my old site and now i'm back at Y2K so for superior parts service come on over to my site.
I do a lot of shipping and I use USPS. I make my own boxes and they are no bigger than what is in it. Many people try to rip you off on shipping. Flat rate boxes are good if it weighs a lot and goes a long way, otherwise they can be a rip off. I use first class mail on little stuff in a large envelope with a few peanut pellets thrown in. It has gone up due to gas prices and inflation but I also use parcel post as most people can wait a couple more days too. I rarely use priority. It's not hard to make box's with scavenged cardboard, and tape measure, sheetrock cutter, and packing tape dispenser.
This is where Ed Olson used to be...he set the site up originally.
When Ed moved over to MILLENNIUMFORDinSeattle (Y2K FORD DISCOUNT PARTS.com), Sub-PARR Ford said they werenotaccepting any further orders, leaving members to wonder what the hell was going on.
Ed has been a sponsor here for many years, knows his stuff, is dependable and has a great reputation among fellow members.
The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is clearly $8.00. MSRP: Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. The key word here is suggested.
Why does your Ford dealer want $29.00?????? Because there is no law that says they can't. So they can charge whatever price they want to.
Why does your local Ford dealer call it a "special order part"????? Because they prolly do not stock it.
There are over 10,000 individual parts on one particular vehicle. What dealer carries all of them? None!
I think you talked to a real dumbazze at the dealership. I don't agree, because the prices are in the dealers computer system.
When the part number appears on the screen, so do the prices.
Each dealer can modify the prices on their computer system...any which way their little hearts desire.
So blame the dealer for charging that price, the parts guy was just doing his job.
Suggested...which means this is what Ford suggests the dealer charge for the part(s), but...since there's no law that says otherwise...
Most dealers today markup the MSRP.
One way is doubling, tripling or even quadrupling the dealers actual cost...then adding 10 - 20 - 30 - 40 or whatever....percent!
btw: Mr Ed and most of y'all are prolly too young...so y'all may not remember...or know...that during Nixon's first adminstration (1969/72)...
There was a law that said retail prices on everything....could not be marked up.
This geezer remembers...and since that law was rescinded over 35 years ago...today...it's a free-for-all.
During WWII, the same thing occured. It was managed by the OPA: Office of Price Administration.
And...if you think autoparts are expensive...take a gander at the clothing industry. Suits that "retail" for 200 bucks may cost the store as little as 40 bucks. I kid you not.
