A few years ago ( so, sometime in the past 5) somebody on here created their own little positive stop system for their reverse tilt hood mechanism.
The actual tilt mechanism was (as I recall) the popular MMB brand system.
I beleive his solution was no more complex than drilling a hole all the way through the tubing in the pivot mechanism - that is, where the long piece of round tubing goes into the the short piece that bolts to the apron panel. He then used one of those pins with the ring in one end to put through the hole that goes through the double wall of tubing in the tubing.
So the question is;
Does anyone remember who it was or the thread that he mentioned and showed it in?
Myself an another member want to have a look at the pics he posted .
It is jag red 54 and he drilled a hole in the tube and drops a pin in (the pin has a ring on one end ). He did it after the thread that Julie found ( I think )
BTW - this is another cool idea that I will be shamelessly copying from this site.
If I remember right, he did mention that he didn't leave the hood up at shows if it were windy as he thought it might shear the pin off and the wind would likely rock the hood into the grille anyway,just aheads up.

I use the pin approach on mine as well. I bought a hitch pin from tractor supply, and its got the little lock ball on the end, and a key ring on the other. I doubt it could shear.
getting the right position before drilling the hole is fun..
I did it without the grill installed, and had to do it again!.. (on the other side)
i have sen these hood but only in pictures. how do they work?do you open the front up then slide it forward and flip?i like this but this is the only hood style ive seen it on.would this work on my 50 merc hood?did you all buy these as a kit or fab your own?
i sure would like to know about them.
Roy, have a look around midfifty.com
Chesserbuilt.com
nolimit.net
each of these sell hood flip kits. I think Mike Chesser is the designer of the original, and the rest are knockoffs. Maybe I'm wrong.

At least you know it can be done, would be the same principal as the ones done on any other.
