Hey,
I've got an 05 F150 supercab. Noticed the other day that when I put the truck in reverse I can hear some kind of creaking coming from the driveshaft - it only happens when in reverse. Could anyone give me an idea of what this might be and how big of a problem it is?
Many thanks,
Keeets

You sure its coming from the driveshaft and not the hubs? I loosened my parking brake a little too loose in the hub cuz it was sticking and it would creak going into reverse until I tightened it back up.
There is a possibility that a u-joint is drier than a popcorn fart. You only hear it in reverse because you're usually going slower in reverse and there are fewer noises from the engine and tires and stuff.
Definitely sounds like a u-joint to me as I had the same thing happen a month or so ago and sure enough the u-joint was "drier than a popcorn fart" .
I replaced with greasable u-joints, but the clearance for the grease fitting is insufficient so i had to remove the fitting and insert a set screw. It's a bit of a pain to remove the set screw and insert the grease fitting every time I want to grease the u-joint, but it beats replacing the u-joints regularly (OEM u-joints don't have a grease fitting).
My truck used to make a crack when I went into reverse. It was the driveshaft. It had to be remove and greese put on the splines. It was the splines sticking and making the noise. Don't know if that helped?
just did my u-joints today with greaseable ones from napa. It quit making noise when in reverse and quit booty shaking at 40mph when going forward.been driving me up wall for 6mnths. Last problem i had in the rear end was the rear end clutch pack assemblies would vibrate or shudder on take off especially when turning right.
