Hi, please forgive it this is a silly question, but I need some help. I recently bought a 93 F250 4x4 with the 5.8 gas engine. I am ordering some parts to tune up and such but for the plug wires and ignition stuff, I am being asked if I have the 351W or the 351M. How do I tell the difference? Thanks!
Odds are its a 351W the same engien family as the 289/302.
The 351M was a destroked 400 ford. Your engine if it looks like a wider version of a 302 then its a W or Windsor which I belive yours is cause I dont think the 351M was around in the 90`s.
Don't know, but that would be one heck of a boat motor. My neighbor has a 351M in an early 80s Bronco, but I'm pretty sure it was dropped in there as an upgrade.
You know, come to think of it I remember one of the guys in the neighborhood where I grew up had a fast boat with a Chevy 350 sitting on it. Used to take it to Lake Havasu in Northwest Arizona.
the boat I had had a Mercruiser 460 4 cylinder in it big engine. Would push the boat up to 65 easily. After I sold it the new owner told me that he got it up to 70 after the issues I had with it was fixed.
I dont know the exact displacement it was just a Mercruiser 460 4 cylinder. Thing was as long as a old 230 chevy inline 6. Big engine too bad I never got a photo of the engine I would post it here.
I even tried to find photos online of it and cant find them. This was in a 1983 Welcraft Texas Special Edition ski boat.
But what I did come across is that it was a 4 cylinder that used a 460 ford head as well as ford 460 internals and its around a 3.4ish Liter engine. I guess what makes the thing look so huge in length was all the extras added on to it since it was a inboard/outboard setup.
