79 Bronco help
I have a 79 Bronco I am restoring, it was a gift to my wife for our wedding from me. We love the old Bronc so much we are gonna keep it till hell freezes over!! We are currently modding-rodding the old Bronc and need some very technical information on the 400 to 460 swap.
The problem lies in the old heavy duty 4 speed transmission mating up with the crankshaft. It seems no one has ever even heard of putting a 460 in place of a 400 up here where I live. The 400 was great for the first 400,000 miles but got a little weak in her old age. The new 460 is a Ford Motorsports, Doug Thoroley Stainless headers, stainless Exhaust, MSD Box with rev limiter, BFG 33's, 392 Gearing, and a 4 speed transmission. I want to make the old Bronco really go!!!!
I need to know where I can get my hands on the right pilot bearing for the swap.
There is a ton of information on this site, best of all the craziest, most knowing how, ford truck nuts in the country with enough Senior User knowledge to help out anyone. Please Help Me!!!
If anyone is interested I have some real good parts left from this conversion.
A good 1980 Front clip complete, a big block c-6 transmission, steering box, lots of good stuff for all you truck nuts. These parts are very clean from Washington state. The tranny has less than 12,000 miles on it. Good luck with your projects fellas, (and Ladies). I'll get some pictures up when I get it going, then more when all the paint and body work is done.
