New blades are pretty cheap and normally last a couple of years. I'd rather replace t he blade than deal with an unbalanced balde and filing it until it is balanced.

Yeah couple years??!!. Mine last that long maybe if I do sharpen them regularly. Otherwise mine are rock chipped or just dulled after a couple months. Then they beat the grass to death.
Even now with my "normal yard" I get maybe a few months between sharpening, lots of sand and small rocks plus the wife likes to run over sprinkler heads.
Balancing is not hard. even that video just shows them putting it on a fancy peg on the wall and then shaving the side that drops.
If you sharpen right, you usually do not get that far off balance and just need to touch up the heavy side.
I have sharpened blades to the point where I was more afraid they were too short cross section and would snap, than go off balance.

I have a small riding mower 30" cut and if the blade gets out of balance, it fairly uncomfortable to ride. I have a typical suburban 1/3 acre house lot that's well manicured and free from rocks, roots and all that stuff. My blades last two years.
