Steve McNair related - idiotic story

So, according to this AP story, Steve McNair had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system to be passed out on the sofa.....

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/nat...s_twice_limit/

Nowhere in the story does it say he was above the legal limit TO OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE. It just says he was above the legal limit. What the hell kind of lousy writing/editing is this.

Or did I miss something and not the .08 limit to operate a vehicle now applies everywhere. I guess I should be careful operating this computer since I am probably close to or above the limit.

Sorry, bad writing is just a pet peeve of mine.....

It just says he was legally drunk when he was murdered. I don't see any relevance to operating a motor vehicle. He just had a high BAC when he was killed.

I agree that it's sloppy reporting. It would have been better to give the actual BAC.

He wasn't over the legal limit for sitting on a couch -- since there is no limit for that. Having that much alcohol in his systen was perfectly legal in that circumstance -- he wasn't in public. If they wanted to reference the law, they could have mentioned that his BAC was twice that allowed to operate a motor vehicle.

Exactly my point....the headline says he was "twice the legal limit". To the best of my knowledge, there has yet to be a limit set for being in ones own house.

I've got the same pet peeve, Ray. I've seen the same thing many times in our local news.
