I'm not an expert here either but I would think a compression check on the cylinders would give a clue to a burnt valve.

It seems like your oil is getting diluted with gasoline. Yur valve seals could be shot. As for you ATF flush, ATF is only meant to operate clutches in an automatic transmission and provide a small amout of lubrication. Your exahust valve could be burned. You can run a compression test on your cylinders to see what the story is. You can try a wet compression test where you squirt some oil in the cylinder and then compression test it. If the readings are higher with the oil then your rings are worn and you could be getting blowby. This summer I will probbally get a ranger to drive while I rebuild the top end of my 400m.
Goodluck with your truck.

Hey big
since this post, I have replaced the heads and all seems well now. Turns out that the heads were shot! The only thing is, now im starting to burn some oil under hard acceleration. I guess its true; you dont rebuild the top end without giving the bottom end attention.....
it has to last me so i cant worry about a quart here or there! Thanks for your input!
regards
Ben
