If theres no power then its not goin to work new or otherwise. Start from the solonoid and check the wires for power to the relays and eliminate that before just throwin parts at it
the battery had a bad cell and the fuel pump was just a free exchange so no biggy. but still nothing. I tested the relay thats green and everyone says is the fuel pump relay and its not getting power to the red wire coming into the relay. I can't tell exactly where the red wire comes from but it looks like it goes through the firewall.
scratch that I fixed it. I decided to check the ECC relay this morning to see if there was power coming out of it beings that it turns the fuel pump relay on. It had nothing but it had power going in so i took the new relay i bought and put it on there and put the old fuel pump relay back on that circuit and it started first crank. I want to thank everyone for the help. I learned a couple of things about my fuel system through this.
Try checking the voltage out of the relays. My son and I are working on an '89 that sat for two years. I had no power to the fuel pumps, but a simple test light showed power on all circuits. I finally had a guy who works at a garage check it. He found that the voltage out of the relays was low, not allowing the pumps to function properly. Once he fed power to the line via his test probe, the truck ran fine. I replaced both relays and cleaned every connection I could find and now the truck fires right up. Good Luck!
