Question Hitch Reciever

OK, I need to get the receiver for my new truck, but I need some help from the knowledgeable members of FTE. I have a Platinum 4x4 and how much of a drop should I get to make the load a level pull? Also can you recommend a place and brand of hitch to get. Thanks for the help.

for hitch their about the same till you get into the weight disb system, but i like the stainless ones over the steal ones they cost a little more, also they do make adjustable hitches

Adjustable is best but costs more. 2-3" drop is about right for most apps but I'd measure it for your specific combo. I have Reese.

You need the actual hitch (bolt to the truck?) ....check ebay or newtakeoffs.com for a factory one

Reese here, and it really depends on the trailer. mine uses a minimal drop of about an inch to keep the trailer level.

Do you need a receiver or a ball mount? A receiver is the square thing bolted to the truck... I assume you already have that.

I use a 2" drop from Buyers to pull a 20' long, 7' tall, 7' wide toy-hauler.

It sits level with my 4x2.

The Buyers ball mount is forged from a single block of material - no welds, just steel. That means nothing to fail, snap, etc. - you manage to fracture the mount itself and you probably have bigger worries. The ball mount and 2-5/16" ball assembled weighs 30-40lbs.

I was talking about the ball mount, sorry for any confusion. My father always called them receivers and the hitch is what it goes into.

Thanks for all of the help and links.
