My boss at work has a 1986 F-250 that hes going to get rid of through the cash for clunkers program. So hes got a 7.5 Fisher plow that I can get for $500. If it fits my truck, im definitely going to get it.
I just junked my 1986 F250. the front frame horns are different. the plow would not swap to my 1996 F350 - but with modification it will. the interchange years are:
80-91 F250/F350
92-96/7 F250/F350
and by the way, your truck should really have an 8 footer on it. you'll find 7.5 to be a bit too small.
it should be very similar but your 96 will have the crumple zone at the front of the frame, which I don't believe the 86 had,I bought plow gear of a mid 80's 250 for a 92 we had here at work and it fit,but we had to make a few minor modifictions.but even if you have to do that at $500 its well worth it.the blade is owrth 500 alone.
anything will fit with enough modification. what you are trying to do is no exception. you will have to modify it. re-read my post above. i am taking a setup off an 86 and putting it on a 96 just like you are. it will indeed fit, but be prepared to cut/grind/weld to make it work. i gave you the direct swap interchange years above.
