i want to put these on my truck . i also have a Gearvendors under/overdrive that i am having put on the truck . i have an auto trans
any help would be good
the main reason i am looking at the edge is that i have ridden in both trucks with edge and bully dog , i have to buy 1 gauge for the edge and not 3 for the bully dog and having ridden in both trucks i prefer the edge . most of the parts i am looking at buying from www.xtremediesel.com.
Welcome to FTE brother. Tell us more about ya truck. Have you any other mods on it ? re intake/exhaust etc.
As for a chip - most around here will advise a DP tuner. More flexibility eg. shift on the fly, custom tunes to suit your truck. I dont have one but it will be a certain once I finish all my mods.
Also dont be afraid of gauges. They can give you some invaluable information an how your truck is performing.
If you want a wastegate Im sure you can find a cheaper one other than banks that does the exact same thing.
Wicked wheel - are you getting turbo surge ?? because thats all it will fix, there is no increase in actual truck performance.
Im unfamiliar with the others but many will chime in and help ya there m8
First for a tuner go with Dp Tuner or Tony Wildman, you can get up to 16 tunes, switchable while driving. Spanks is way over priced and you can get alot more for your money by doing some research on this sight. The Xwheel is a good buy if you are going to be doing alot of heavy towing or race type driving, no compressor surge. On that note I tow an 8k trailer do not race and do not get surge with out the X wheel. As for the BD-power towlock and brakelock these I am not familiar with. Someone will chime in and give advise on those. First thing you want to do is open up your intake, take a look at the Kwik filter mod. Then you want to have your exhaust freed up. Go with a 4in or better turbo back exhaust with or with out muffler depending where you are from. You also want to make sure you have gauges, Exhaust temp, trans temp, and boost. If you dont have these then with the extra power you will not know how you truck is operating.
Here is one of the best wright ups on the subject of upgrading your truck at an affordable price and with very good results. Look at post #18 from powerstrokejunkie https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...confusion.html
ok so far the only thing done on the truck is what appears to have the cat removed and the muffler is hallow , the exhaust is 4 inches all ready , when i do pull loads it is a lot , i have a gooseball and hitch is rated at 35k and i pull all most that much , i am just wanting the turbo lag gone and to be able to save lots of fuel on lond trips in the truck with out pulling a trailer , i will be going to tx form ut in 2 weeks and am looking to try and get this all done before i leave .
Not Diablo, Waaay better than them Look at this link>>>> Click here
Read that post number 18 linked to above. You are ahead of the game as far as exhaust goes, but you have some things that you will want to do that are covered in that post. You can also click the link in my signature and then go to the Mods and maintenance tab and read a TON of info about what you can do to these trucks yourself, with a little guidance from knowledgeable posters here.
Good luck!!
Edit: Oops I forgot to press send and in the meantime Clint beat me too it on the DP thing.
Save your money on the Banks junk, too. Just tighten the stock waste gate rod down when you put the Wicked Wheel on. Put the $$$ you just saved into trans mods. Pulling that heavy, you need more cooling (6.0L cooler is a great option -- I just put one on my truck) and I suggest the TransGo Tugger.
Also, do you have an after-market intake? If not, plan on that too...
