Is it just me or is it harder to be a ford owner? Anybody can be a chevy guy by taking off your exhuast and screaming around town. I get dissed so much for having a ford, but I dont mind. You just have to be more civilized I think.
The F Series has been the most popular truck (more sold than any other maker) for 35 STRAIGHT years.
Tell that to your chebbie buddies.
Chevrolet = Like a Rock, cuz it just lays there!

Chevrolet = An American Revolution because it's now owned by US taxpayers. GM went bankrupt, got 50 BILLION DOLLARS of our taxpayer money to keep them afloat.
lol not me... i live in a house full of GM fanatics... brothers got a camaro, corsica, 08 impala.. moms got 06 impala, dad has 03 silverado, buick lesabra, 85 & 79 surburban..

You must like in a chevy area. When I was going to high school, I was in a chevy town. I got the same treatment. Whenever they would ask "why the hell do you drive a ford?"
My response was always "it was cheap, it works, and most importantly, it was paid for!'

Oh yeh ive heard it all over the years. Chevy this an Chevy that. I think we just like to give each other crap about what we drive. Yup there are some people that would never drive a Chevy no matter what. Ford or nothing. I was talking to a friend off mine the other day. I asked him will you ever change brands. Nope he said. His Dad would probably disown him. He was taught that anything other then Ford was crap pardon the pun. An Chevy guys the same way. The rivalry continues.

thats pretty much it completely in a nutshell... rivalry been going on since the first car rolled off the assembly lines... i dont mind when people have legitimate reasons for hating particular brands... as in having one it being problematic and learning to hate them... that i can understand.. its people that have never had them that i mind.. cuz all theyre doing is echoing what others say..
i dont mind driving a chebby.. but ive loved fords ever since i was little.. dads a die hard GM lover.. but hes had ford, crysler and even dodges befor.. (granted they were only once).. for me ive had a few gm products and they were constantly having problems with them.. not like ones from general maintence.. that i could deal with.. these were like grimlens in the machines kind of problems.. and when i first got my s10 it was like that.. but now it seems to of tapered off from being that.. (prolly cuz by now its 70% new parts lol).. when i first got it you couldnt trust it not to break something.. every time id get something fixed itd break something else the next day.. or even the same thing i just replaced lol...
my stang i really only have one beef with it.. and thats its shocks.. first 2 yrs i had it i went through 3 sets of shocks (2 in the first yr)... i dunno who decided LD shocks on a muscle car was a good idea but theys dummys... now that its outta warrenty next time they go theyre getting replaced with HD Bilsteins...
My whole family are in the chevy crowd, so being the black sheep that i am, had to buy a ford, a 1989 f-150 4x4 302 standard trans, and put it to the test right away against my brothers chevy 1500 4x4 with a 350 in it. you know what, the ford made his chevy look stupid in the mud, it felt great. i Have always had good luck with the fords, the other brands that i have owned have just broke down when i needed them the most.
right now I own
'49 ford F1 300,000 miles
'49 ford F6 ? miles
'90 ford F250 200,000 miles
'97 ford F250 180,000 miles
'77 chevy K10 550,000 miles
'80 chevy k10 200,000 miles
'98 chevy k1500 suburban 230,000 miles
'70 jeep cj5 ? miles
'80 jeep cj7 150,000 miles
'91 jeep yj 150,000 miles
none have ever left me stranded, I guess I drive a lot!
I don't have a problem with any brand, as for reliability from my 30 years of maintenance I would say ford's most reliable, than dodge than chevy.
Personally I'm not brand loyal to any brand. I buy what I like & what I can deal on. If I had big STUPID MONEY to buy a NEW TRUCK it would be a DODGE with a CUMMINS. As for USED I might consider a FORD with a 7.3 diesel but not over a Cummins if given the choice in similar trucks.
I have wanted to replace our Blazer 4x4, but it will have to be with a Jeep with a 4.0. Any Explorer past about 97 scares me. Bad transmissions & independent rear suspensions would never work for the way we use our SUVs.
So bottom line depending on what we use a vehicle for & the year we want, pretty much dictates the brand.
GM as a rule gets better gas mileage from my experience.
I once knew a mechanic for the USFS, he sold me on Fords.........Every time they fired up the wrecker (also a Ford) to retrieve a busted USFS rig back in the sticks, it was always a GM or a Dodge they towed back.........The Fords always seemed to make it home.

If I had "big stupid money" I would buy a brand new dodge with a cummins, take that cummins, put it in a 1977 F250 then park it on the dodge to show its dominance. It seems like everywhere I go people want to bash ford, most of them are uneducated dumba$$es that think since they took a highschool auto class they know everything.

Thats awesome. I love the Cummins engine. The heavy diesel sound.. Well, the old ones sound better. I hear the new Ford Scorpion?, I believe, is supposed to be a bigger, better engine. We shall see. I tried Chevy's, never liked em. Always had problems. Never had any major problems with Ford and if I did its usually ok to deal with.
I dont think ive ever been to a Chevy dealership but I tell you one thing... 9 out of 10 guys at Ford are a bunch of Morons. Ford makes great vehicles, but the dealership is a joke and you cant even get parts for the older trucks.
My great uncle had a 48 Ford 2 ton with dump body. He had that truck (with original flathead 8) up until around 99. I only wish I had known he was getting rid of it. My grandfather and great grandfather also used nothing but Fords on the farm. My dad had 2 mustangs, then a F100 with straight 6. 3 things I was told by my dad and grandfather. There are three things that wont let you down #1 Ford trucks, #2 John Deere Tractors (although I have a Kubota now) and #3 Craftsman tools. But I have also worked on alot of Chevy and Dodges and have nothing good to say about them....well the only one good thing with GM/Chevy is how easy it is to find parts for a 305/350. But even my mechanic that does my inspections says he always has the most problems with GM/Chebbie and Dodge trucks (and I know him for almost 20 years now)
Chevy and Ford guys will always tangle. Always have, always will...but I think some are coming around to the good side. As for Dodge, if it wouldnt have been for the Cummins diesel, I dont think Dodge would have a truck anymore.
Just look at a construction site. Most times the trucks you see in numbers are usually Ford with the most, followed by Chebbie....then maybe, just maybe you might see a Dodge sitting somewhere....more than likely driven there by a worker that owns it.
Not too hard to find Ford owners- lots and lots of Super Duties around here (construction companies, drilling co's, etc). Also my brother has a modded out Cummins Ram, but deep down I think he's still a ford guy as he just bought a '90 F350 diesel from a friend of his.
