My great uncle had a 48 Ford 2 ton with dump body. He had that truck (with original flathead 8) up until around 99. I only wish I had known he was getting rid of it. My grandfather and great grandfather also used nothing but Fords on the farm. My dad had 2 mustangs, then a F100 with straight 6. 3 things I was told by my dad and grandfather. There are three things that wont let you down #1 Ford trucks, #2 John Deere Tractors (although I have a Kubota now) and #3 Craftsman tools. But I have also worked on alot of Chevy and Dodges and have nothing good to say about them....well the only one good thing with GM/Chevy is how easy it is to find parts for a 305/350. But even my mechanic that does my inspections says he always has the most problems with GM/Chebbie and Dodge trucks (and I know him for almost 20 years now)
Chevy and Ford guys will always tangle. Always have, always will...but I think some are coming around to the good side. As for Dodge, if it wouldnt have been for the Cummins diesel, I dont think Dodge would have a truck anymore.
Just look at a construction site. Most times the trucks you see in numbers are usually Ford with the most, followed by Chebbie....then maybe, just maybe you might see a Dodge sitting somewhere....more than likely driven there by a worker that owns it.
Are you talking about company owned trucks? If so the main reason so many are fords is due to the fact that ford has better fleet pricing than the others. If not, please disregard:. )
