The time has come...

I've decided that instead of purchasing the ESP for roughly 1800.00. I'm instead going to go the APR/EGR delete route.

I thought about it since the beginning of the year and come to the conclusion that if I go ahead and take care of the inevitable now - that leaves me with wear and tear items down the line.

Studs should be here Tuesday at the latest. EGR delete kit is already in hand. MY dealer is going to do the work under the 100.00 deductable as well. I'll gladly tip the tech for his time and make it worth his while to do this for me. I appreciate his going above and beyond when he could opt not to.

While he's in there, I'm asking for new O-rings on injectors, pulling the turbo apart to clean/inspect and checking for anything that he feels needing attention.

It'll be getting a full trans flush, serpintine and full 5" Turbo back.

Going to miss the ol'girl while she's in the hospital. She's done right for me for the 80k miles so far.

I'm asking him to take pictures for me as the work progresses so I can have something to go on for the future.

Pics soon!

I hope he saves the 4 gallons of AMSOIL I JUST serviced. lol...

More then likely you are going to notice some loss of low end power with that much exhaust, particularly if you are still running stock program(I saw no mention of a tuner).

This is exactly what I did, I felt that an extended warranty is a waste of money fixing one problem with the same problem. I went with a full EGR delete, ARP Studs, CCV reroute and Full 4" turbo back. Total cost $1,000.00 and Ford paid for the Labor when they were in fixing the bed plate leak, seals, HPOP fitting, all o-rings and up-dating Turbo.
Oh well I sorta voided the warranty, oops I may never need it now.

It is no small amount of irony that the things that void the warranty on these trucks happen to be the same things that make it unnecessary to have. I'm at 85k and running great. I am torn between doing the mods to make it stronger and losing my warranty. If I had a legitimate warranty issue I would go the route you're taking but it is a large expense if done on my dime.

In some ways I almost wish my truck would pop a gasket or lose the EGR cooler before I hit 100k. I certainly am very pleased that I haven't had these issues so far but I know the mods are in my future anyway so it would be nice to let someone else do the work for almost nothing.

Good luck with your endeavor. It will be worth it in the end.

My truck runs like a top. It pulls my 13k TT with the truck loaded with no problems. It gets ~17+ mpg pending conditions and 10+ towing. I have absolutely no complaints.

I just can't see spending 2 grand on a bandaid at best. If I have to spend that on an extended warranty, I might as well "fix" the problems that are the most expensive to fix while I have the opportunity.

I get an all but bullet proof platform that has less than 80k miles on it and baring that injector, HPOP, ICP or some other "minor in comparison" fix, I'm done with it.

My truck works though. It's not a grocery getter. Even when I am empty I still work the truck to get it up in operating temps and keep it clean. I service it without fail and I use premium parts.

I plan on installing a tuner once I get a few miles on it to make up for the 5" exhaust. To date, the truck has been stock.

My plans are to take the truck to the end. This should atleast let me get out of warranty with a clear concious about head gaskets, EGR or CCV. I can do the rest myself even though I dispise working on my own stuff, lol.
