I replaced the injector o-rings, the IPR o-rings, and the fuel lines in the engine valley under the filter housing and now it won't start. I have HPOP pressure (500 plus), 50-60 psi fuel, and have kept the batteries on a 10 amp charger and still no response. Injectors are clicking. No smoke from exhaust.
Since you replacd both the o-rings and fuel lines you have to crank it enough until you get oil to the injectors. Sometimes it takes quite a while to get them to fire correctly. You should be able to hear when the injectors start getting oil when your cranking whether there is fuel or not.
You can also pull the valve cover off to see if there is oil coming from the injector spout.
You may have air in the fuel lines... which should come out once you get cranking.
i went ahead and loosened the plugs on each side of the head just below the intake closest to the front of the truck. cranked it over until oil came out. tightened them up and it fired after a couple of cranks. then you drive it like you stole it for a couple of miles to get the rest of the air out of the system.
I was mistaken about the return fuel lines. It turns out the return lines are the flexible fuel hoses on the front of the head. The metal lines on the rear are the supply lines. I had an airlock in one of the heads. I vented it by disconnecting the lines at the regulator and cranking it over.
I am getting injector oil pressure but it is taking a while to come up. This tells me that I probably still have air in that system.
I am getting puffs of smoke out the exhaust now which is kinda new.
UPDATE:
Replaced IPR. Truck started immediately. Let truck run for 15 minutes. Took truck to top of driveway and stopped to arrange some stuff and shut the pass door. When I got back in and shifted to drive, it died. I got it running and took it back down the drive. It cranks really fast and wants to catch, but doesn't.
Gonna vent the fuel and try again after lunch...
Darn thing is gonna want a HPOP if this keeps up.
Aaron
Edit: When it does eventually start the throttle must be held to keep it running.
