Transfer case help

I have a 91 F-150 and I can't engage 4-hi but 4-low works fine I am wondering what might be causing 4-hi not to work anyways thanks in advance.

electric shift or manual? If it is electric it is probably the position switches on the transfer case. They are not terribly difficult to disassemble and clean.

If it is a manual shift, and 2hi and 4lo work, then I've no idea, unless it is really in nuetral.

Yeah it's manual shift and it is leaving me scratching my head as to why only 4HI won't work while everything else does.
